elephant spends 16 hours a day eating. Large elephants consume 130 to 250 kg of
food. They drink 150 to 190 liters of water every day . Likes swimming. They
also sleep for two hours every day. This trunk also acts as a nose. An elephant
detects a material's size and temperature by its trunk. An elephant's trunk can
grow up to two meters in length. It is made up of more than one lakh muscles.
There are no bones. An elephant lives for 60 to 70 years. It can run at a speed
of 45 km per hour . Recent research has revealed that elephants communicate by
making a kind of sounds. The gestation period of an elephant is 22 months. No
other animal has such a long gestation period. Elephant ears have a complex
vascular system. They regulate the temperature. Elephant is the smartest of
animals. Its brain weighs up to 5 kg. No other animal has such a heavy brain.
In elephants, the testicles are inside the body. In addition, elephants have a
sense of smell unlike any other animal on earth. Elephants have long tusks.
They use these teeth to protect themselves from the clutches of other animals
and for food.
