ఒక అడవిలో ఒక జింక ఉంది. అది దాహం తీర్చుకోవడానికి
కాలువదగ్గర కి వెళ్ళింది. తేటగా ఉన్న నీటిలో దానికి తన ప్రతిబింబం కనిపించింది.
అది నీరు త్రాగటం మానేసి ప్రతిబింబాన్ని చూస్తూ నిలుచుండిపోయింది.
తదేకంగా తన ప్రతిబింబంపై నుంచి చూసుకుంటూ.. “నక్షత్రాల్లాంటి మచ్చలతో మెరిసే ఆహా ఎంత అందమైన శరీరం.. ఎంత
అందమైన పెద్ద కళ్ళు, ఎంతో ముద్దొచ్చే చెవులు అనుకుంటూ తనకు తాను తన శరీర
భాగాలన్నీంటినీ చూసుకుంటూ చివరికి కాళ్ళని చూసుకుని డీలా పడిపోయింది.
ఇంత అందమైన శరీరం ఇచ్చిన భగవంతుడు.. సన్నగా పీలగా ఉండే
కాళ్లనిచ్చి కురూపిలా చేశాడే అని కన్నీరు కార్చింది.
అంతలో దూరం నుంచి అడుగుల చప్పుడు వినబడింది. అది ఖచ్చితంగా
తనని చంపేందుకు వచ్చిన వేటగాడిదని అర్ధమైన జింక పరుగు లంఘించుకుంది. వందమైళ్ళ
వేగంతో అక్కడి నుండి తుర్రు మంది. వేటగాడు వెంట్బడుతుంటే ఆగకుండా పరుగు దీసి
తప్పించుకున్నట్లు నిర్ధారించుకుని ఒక చెట్టుక్రింద ఆగింది.
తనను వేటగాడి నుంచి రక్షించిన కాళ్ళను ఒకసారి తేరి పారా
చూసుకుంది. .. “దేవుడు నాకింత చక్కటి కాళ్ళివ్వకుంటే ఈ పాటికి వేటగాడి చేతిలో హతమయ్యే దాన్ని
కదా” అని అనుకుంది.
.. ఇంతకు ముందు అందవిహీనంగా కనిపించిన కాళ్ళు ఇప్పుడు ధృడమైన
ఉక్కు కడ్డీల్లా అనిపించాయ్. అప్పుడు అర్ధమైంది. దేవుడు తనకి కాళ్ళు అలా
ఎందుకిచ్చాడో .. వెంటనే దేవుడికి కృతజ్ఞతలు చెప్పుకుంది.
కాబట్టి పిల్లలూ భగవంతుడు ఏవి ఎందుకిస్తాడో అతనికి
ఖచ్చితంగా తెలుసు.
