ఒకానోక్క గ్రామంలో ఒక దొంగ గుడిలో గంట
దొంగలించి అడవిలోకి పారిపోయాడు. ఊళ్ళో వాళ్ళు వెంట పడ్డారు.
పరిగెడుతుంటే గంట చప్పుడు అవుతుంది కదా? పట్టుబడి పోతాడేమో అన్న
భయంతో గంట అడవిలో దాచేసి, తనూ దాక్కున్నాడు. దొంగ దొరకకపోతే
ఊళ్ళో వాళ్ళు తిరిగి వెళ్లి పోయారు. మళ్ళీ గంటతో పాట్లు ఎవరు పడతారు అనుకుని దొంగ
కూడా గంటని అడవిలో వదిలేసాడు. కాల క్రమేణ ఈ సంఘటన అందరూ మర్చిపోయారు.
ఒక రోజు సాయంత్రం పూట హటాత్తుగా గంట మోగడం
మొదలెట్టింది. అడవిలోంచి గంట చప్పుడు గ్రామంలో వినిపించింది. గ్రామస్తులు అంతా భయ
పడ్డారు. గంట కొడుతున్నది ఎవరు? అని ఒకరితో ఒకరు చర్చించుకున్నారు. చివరికి సమాధానము తోచక అడవిలో
ప్రేతాలు ఉన్నాయని, అవే గంట కొడుతున్నాయని ఒక ఆధారం లేని
పుకారు మొదలయ్యింది. గ్రామంలో వాళ్ళు భయ పడి అడవి వైపు వెళ్ళడం మానేశారు. కాని ఇది
ఇబ్బందికరమైన విషయం. ఎందుకంటే పాత కాలంలో ఇప్పుడు దొరికినంత సులువుగా అన్నీ
దొరికేవు కాదు. పొయ్యిలోకి కట్టలు కావాలన్న, వేట ఆడాలన్నా,
చాపలు పట్టాలన్నా, వేరే గ్రామాలకు వెళ్ళాలన్నా
అడవిలోంచి వెళ్లక తప్పదు. ఇలా గంట కొడుతున్న ప్రేతాలకు భయపడి అడవిలోకి వెళ్లక పొతే
గ్రామస్తులకి ఇవన్ని ఉండవు. అది ఇబ్బందే కదా!
మాటి మాటికీ గంట వినిపించడం ఒక సాధారణ విషయం
అయిపొయింది. గంట మొగి నప్పుడల్లా ఊళ్ళో వాళ్లకి చెప్పుకో లేనంత భయం. తట్టుకో లేక
కొంత మంది గ్రామం వదిలి వెళ్ళిపోయారు. ఒక రోజు గంట చప్పుడు వినిపిస్తుంటే ఒక అవ్వ “అసలు గంట ఎవరు కొడుతున్నారు?
ప్రేతాలున్నాయంటే నేను నమ్మను!” అనుకుంది.
అడవిలోకి వెళ్లి చూద్దామనుకుంది.
మొన్నాడు అలాగే వెళ్లి చూసింది. గంట చప్పుడు
ఎటు వైపు వస్తోందో పరిశీలించి అటువైపు వెతికింది. కొంత సేపటికి చూసిన దృశ్యానికి
పడీ పడీ నవ్వడం మొదలెట్టింది. గంట ఒక చెట్టు మీద వేల్లాడుతోంది. ఆ చెట్టు మీద
బోల్డన్ని కోతులు వున్నాయి. గాలి తగిలినా, కోతి తగిలినా, గంట
ఊగి కొట్టుకుంటోంది.
అవ్వ నవ్వుకుంటూ తిరిగి గ్రామంలోకి
వెళ్ళింది. వెళ్లి ఊరి పెద్దను కలిసి, “నాకు ఈ గంట బాధ నుంచి విముక్తి ఎలా
చెందాలో, ఒక ఉపాయం తట్టింది. దానికి నాకు కొంత సామగ్రి
కావాలి. మీరు కొంత డబ్బు ఇప్పిస్తే, నేను ఈ సమస్యని
పరిష్కరిస్తాను. ఇంక ఎవ్వరు మన గ్రామం వదిలి పోనవసరం లేదు” అని
చెప్పింది.
ఊరి పెద్ద ఆ అవ్వకి యజ్ఞమో, నోమో, పూజో
అలాతిదేదో తెలుసేమో అనుకుని కొంత డబ్బు ఇచ్చి పంపించాడు. ఆవిడ ప్రయత్నం ఫలించాలని,
ఊరికి మంచి జరగాలని దేవుడికి మొక్కుకున్నాడు.
మొన్నాడు అవ్వ తన పెద్ద కొడుకుని వెంట
పెట్టుకుని, బజారులోకి
వెళ్లి అరిటి పళ్ళు, మామిడి పళ్ళు, వేరుసెనగ
పల్లీలు కొనుక్కుంది. విషయం చూసిన వాళ్ళంతా అవ్వ యే పూజ చేస్తుందో అనుకున్నారు.
అవ్వ, తన కొడుకు, ఇద్దరు
సామాను తీసుకుని అడవిలోకి వెళ్ళారు. ఊళ్ళో వాళ్ళు ఊపిరి బిగించుకుని అడివి అంచున
ఎదురు చూసారు.
అడవిలో అవ్వ కోతులకు పళ్ళు, పల్లీలు చూపించింది. అవి
చూసిన కోతులు చెట్టు దిగి పళ్ళు తినడం మొదలెట్టాయి. చటుక్కున కుర్రాడు చెట్టు
ఎక్కి గంట తీసుకుని దిగి పోయాడు.
అవ్వ, కుర్రాడు గంటతో సహా తిరిగి ఊళ్లోకి వచ్చారు.
యేమవుతుందో అని ఆత్రంగా ఎదురు చూస్తున్న
గ్రామస్తులు నవ్వుకుంటూ తిరిగి వచ్చిన వాళ్ళిద్దరిని చూసి ఆశ్చర్య పోయారు.
అవ్వ జరిగినదంతా చెప్పింది. ఊళ్లోవాళ్ళు ఆమె
ధైర్య సాహసాలని,
తెలివి తేటలని మెచ్చుకున్నారు. “అనవసరంగా ఇంత
కాలం మూఢ నమ్మకాలతో, అపోహలతో అనవసరంగా ఇబ్బంది పడ్డామే!”
అని అనుకున్నారు.
అప్పటి నుంచి గ్రామంలో అందరు ప్రశాంతంగా
వున్నారు.
Who rings the bell ?
In the village of Okanokka, a thief steals a bell from a temple and runs away into the forest. They followed each other in the village.
If you run, the bell will ring, right ? Fearing that he would be caught , he hid himself in the forest for an hour. If the thief is not found, they go back to the village. The thief also left the bell in the forest wondering who would play with the bell again. With the passage of time, this incident was forgotten by everyone.
One day the bell suddenly started ringing in the evening. The sound of the bell from the forest was heard in the village. All the villagers were scared. Who is ringing the bell ? They discussed with each other. In the end, when there was no answer , a baseless rumor began that the forest was haunted and ringing the bell. In the village they got scared and stopped going towards the forest. But this is an embarrassing thing. Because not everything was as easy to find in the old days as it is now. One has to go through the forest to get wood for the stove , to hunt , to make mats , or to go to other villages. Villagers who do not go into the forest for fear of the bell-ringing ghosts will not have all these. Isn't that a problem!
The ringing of bells has become a common thing. Whenever the bell rings, the people in the village are too scared to tell. Some people left the village. One day, if you hear the bell ringing, you will say , " Who is ringing the bell ?" I don't believe in ghosts! ” she thought. She wanted to go into the forest and see.
She went and saw it the other day. She checked the direction of the sound of the bell and looked in that direction. After some time, I started laughing at the scene I saw. A bell hangs on a tree. There are many monkeys on that tree. Even if the wind blows or the monkey blows , the bell is swinging.
Avva smiled and went back to the village. He went and met the village elder and said , " How to get rid of the pain of this hour , I have come up with a trick. I need some equipment for that. If you give me some money , I will solve this problem. No one else needs to leave our village, ” she said.
The elder of the village thought that she knew about Yajna , Nomo , Pooja, etc. He gave some money and sent her away. He prayed to God that her efforts would bear fruit and good things would happen to the village.
The other day, the mother took her elder son with her and went to the market to buy ari teeth , mango teeth and groundnut palli. When they saw the matter, they all thought that Avva was doing the puja.
The mother , her son and two went into the forest with the luggage. In the village, they held their breath and looked at the edge of the hill.
In the forest, Avva showed the teeth and gums to the monkeys. Seeing them, the monkeys came down from the tree and started eating their teeth. The boy climbed the tree and took the bell and went down.
The mother and the boy came back to the village along with the bell .
The villagers, who were eagerly waiting to see what would happen, were surprised to see the two of them coming back laughing.
Avva told everything that happened. The villagers admired her bravery and intelligence. " Unnecessarily, we have been troubled unnecessarily with superstitions and misconceptions for so long! ” they thought.
Since then everyone is calm in the village.
