Listen to the story and answer the questions that follow.
Once there was a farmer who lived with his four sons. He owned a lot of land. He was sad because his four sons were always quarrelling with each other. The farmer tried hard to bring unity among them but they would never listen to his advice. He was very worried about their future.
As the years passed, the farmer grew old and weak. He knew he was going to die soon. He wanted to teach his sons a lesson, so he came up with a plan. He asked a servant to bring some sticks from the nearby forest. The farmer tied the sticks together into a bundle and kept the bundle in a corner. He then waited for his sons to come.
During lunchtime, the sons ate separately. They did not even look at each other. The farmer showed them the bundle of sticks and asked if they could break it. None of the sons could break the bundle when it was tied together.
The farmer then told them to untie the bundle and take one stick each. He asked them to break the stick. This time, they could easily break the single sticks. The farmer explained "When the sticks were together, you couldn't break them. But when they were single, you could. Like the bundle, you should live together. No one can harm you. If you fight among yourselves, you will be alone. People can easily do you harm."
The sons listened to their father's advice. They realised their mistake and promised not to quarrel with each other in the future.
