The appended Notification will be published in an Extra
Ordinary Issue of the Andhra Pradesh Gazette Dated.11.03.2026. The Commissioner
of Printing, Stationery and Stores Purchase, A.P., Vijayawada is requested to
furnish 3000 copies of the Gazette containing the Notification, to the
Government.

NOTIFICATION
Summary of the Notification
-
The term of most Gram Panchayat Members and Sarpanches elected under the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 will expire on 02 April 2026.
-
The terms of some Gram Panchayats will expire after 02 April 2026.

Under Section 143(3) of the Act, the Government has the authority to appoint a Special Officer / Person-in-Charge / Committee to run Gram Panchayats until newly elected Members and Sarpanches take office.

The Government has authorized the District Collector & District Magistrate to appoint Special Officers (such as Tahsildar, MPDO, Mandal Educational Officer, Deputy MPDO, or higher rank officers) for:

A single Gram Panchayat, or
-
A group of Gram Panchayats.

These Special Officers will take charge from 03 April 2026 (or after the expiry of the Panchayat term) and continue until newly elected representatives assume office.

The earlier government order G.O.Ms.No.90 PR&RD dated 01-08-2018 is cancelled/superseded.
