the entire field. Usage: Very high water usage. Efficiency: Very
low, as a lot of water is wasted through evaporation and runoff.
2. Furrow Irrigation: Water flows through small
channels (furrows) between crop rows. Usage: High. Efficiency:
Better than flood irrigation but still wastes water.
3. Sprinkler Irrigation: Water is sprayed into the
air like rain through pipes and nozzles. Usage: Moderate to low. Efficiency:
High. It covers a large area evenly and is excellent for uneven land, reducing
wastage.
4. Drip Irrigation: Water is delivered drop by drop
directly to the roots of the plants using narrow pipes. Usage: Very low
(least water usage). Efficiency: Very high. It ensures maximum
absorption by the plant with zero evaporation or runoff, making it the best
method for water conservation.
